Lone Wolf and Cub Author Kazuo Koike Dies at Age 82.

Kazuo Koike, the author of the landmark manga Lone Wolf and Cub has died at age 82, from complications related to pneumonia. The story has been adapted many times over the years; and remains influential to this day. Koike also worked with Takao Saito on the acclaimed Golgo 13, and students of his Gekiga Sonjuku course include Ranma 1/2 creator Rumiko Takahashi.

I wish the best for Koike's colleagues, friends, and family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Lupin III Creator Monkey Punch dies at age 81.

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Kato "Monkey Punch" Kazuhiko, who has died of complications related to pneumonia at age 81. He was the creator of the highly-acclaimed Lupin III series, which remains influential to this day.

As I rewatch my favorite film starring the character, "The Castle of Cagliostro," I wish the best for his family, friends and coworkers at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
